Resin slopes and Falls - screeds and drainage

When installing a resin floor alongside any form of drainage, it is important to consider the resin slopes and falls which are needed. These create a floor where the liquids are directed to the drainage. Resin floor screeds can be installed with a fall or slope to ensure proper drainage in areas where water may accumulate, like wet rooms, breweries or industrial floors. This is particularly important for hygiene and preventing stagnant water, which can be a breeding ground for bacteria. For this reason and more, it is important to direct any liquid to the correct drainage.

How is resin used to create a fall in the floor

Resin is widely used in both commercial and industrial settings to create a sloped floor by applying a specialized resin-based screed system. This screed system is designed to achieve a level of slope within a floor to direct any liquids towards specific drainage.

This process may involve the use of a base screed system, which can be made of either high-quality bulk polyurethane resin or versatile polymer resin. After creating a foundational layer, a resin screed is applied on top to achieve the optimal finish, enhancing both aesthetic appeal and slip resistance.

However, if only a small fall is required, this can be achieved with a single layer of polyurethane resin screed.

The use of resin not only ensures durability and longevity but also allows for customization according to specific design requirements, making it an ideal choice for a variety of flooring applications in the commercial sector.

Why are falls in floors needed

One of the main reasons for installing a fall or slope within a resin floor lies within health and safety. If the floor is likely to be wet a lot of the time, such as in wet rooms and breweries, having drainage installed with a floor means the floor dries quicker. This in turn will lead to a lower risk of slips by employees and in some cases clients.

Another health and safety factor is the bacteria which grows on stagnant water, as well as the smell that it produces. It is much more hygienic to have a floor where water or any other liquid is properly drained away

Advantages

Depending on the manufacturer and product which is used, there are a variety of advantages to installing falls or slopes within a resin screed.
