Monarch Resin Floors recently completed a 750m² high-performance epoxy resin floor installation for Core Climbing in Dronfield. The project transformed an oil-contaminated, uneven surface into a smooth, durable, and easy-to-clean floor using our Monarcoat 720 epoxy resin system in RAL 7035.
The client required a hard-wearing, low-maintenance surface that could withstand heavy use in an industrial environment while maintaining a clean, professional appearance. This project demonstrates how our detailed surface preparation and expert resin application deliver long-term performance and visual impact in demanding commercial spaces.
SCOPE OF WORK
Surface Preparation & Priming:
We mechanically prepared the existing concrete floor, which had been heavily contaminated with oil and dirt from previous machinery use. Once clean, we applied Monarprime OT, our specialist oil-tolerant primer, ensuring a strong bond between the substrate and the resin system.
Repairs & Levelling:
Over two days, our team filled bolt holes, cracks, and damaged areas, as well as repaired joints. We also pump-floored a lower section to level it with the surrounding floor, creating a seamless and consistent base.
Resin Application:
We then applied two coats of Monarcoat 720, our high-build, chemical-resistant epoxy resin, in RAL 7035 to achieve a clean, uniform finish.
Non-Slip Finish at Entrance:
To ensure safe vehicle movement, we applied an additional coat of Monarcoat 720 with a non-slip aggregate in the shutter entrance area. This provided extra traction for forklifts and other equipment, ensuring safety in all conditions.
Joint Reinstatement:
Finally, we reinstated all expansion joints, sealing them neatly using Monarjoint, our flexible polyurethane sealant, colour-matched in RAL 7035 for a consistent and professional look.
THE RESULT
The completed floor for Core Climbing is now smooth, durable, and highly practical, providing an easy-to-maintain surface that performs under pressure. The new epoxy resin system delivers excellent chemical resistance, improved hygiene, and a modern industrial aesthetic that complements the client’s operational needs.
