An award-winning chip shop in Selby was facing ongoing problems with cracked and failing floor tiles. The constant heat, footfall, and moisture made conditions difficult. The Challenge: Damaged Tiles in a Busy Environment
The existing tiled floor was no longer fit for purpose. Cracked and uneven surfaces posed both a safety risk and hygiene concern. Moreover, the shop operates seven days a week, so extended downtime was not an option. As a result, we had to act quickly and efficiently.
The Solution: Monarthane Polyurethane Resin Floor
First, our team removed all failing tiles and repaired the area using resin bulk. Next, we diamond ground the existing surface—including the remaining tiles and resin areas—to create a secure key for bonding. This process ensured excellent adhesion for the new system.
After surface prep was complete, we applied one coat of Monarprime DPM, a damp-proof membrane that prevents moisture rising through the substrate. Following that, we installed a 6mm Monarthane polyurethane resin screed in Dark Grey, selected for its clean and professional finish.
In total, the area measured around 35m², but the size wasn’t the real challenge—it was the timeframe.
